Well I just bought a 1977 Ford Bronco off of ebay. The body is pretty much shot but after all I was going to go fiberglass with the last one. I have a 1966 bronco now that the frame was in great shape on but this one came along with an automatic so I bought it.
I will be selling the 66 now, so I will post some pics up soon.
Here is the vin number: U15GLB00081
If someone could help me with the info from this vin I would be gratefull.
If all else was the same and only the frames/running gear were good, the '66 is what I'd build, with some of those '77 parts.
The '66 is exempt from "federal" emisions laws (you can still get in trouble even if your area doesn't test emisions)
Exempt seatbelt laws (not that you would)
11 extra years of "classic" status
The '77 will have the 44 front w/ disc brakes which will swap to the '66 real nice.
Well the one I just bought is still in IL but here is the numbers off of the one I am selling now on ebay. Could you give me the info on it please, I would like to add it to the listing. U15F1G86212

below that is reads 092 7 U15Q 1 98 C 03
37
What does all this mean
092- 92" wheelbase
7- Harbor Blue- didn't show this code until '67 tho
U15Q- should be U150, standard wagon
C- 3 speed transmission
03- 4.11 gears, small bearing, small brakes
37- DSO (Domestic Special Order) Buffalo, which is the delivery region
1 98- body code, I don't have specifics on this, believe that it pertains to trim level and body arrangement
NumberDummy has a lot of specific information as he was a Ford parts guy for many years. He knows his stuff when it comes to the factory offerings and decoding these plates. Might search for him and send him a PM.
I got the bronco home. You were right it is titled a 76. It has disk Power brakes though. The frame is very good. I really want to build it with a fiberglass tub anyway. I am going to follow the advice and put a metal front end on it.
