I recently bought a 61 SWB stepside with good title, however I was not sure the vin matched the title since the driver door had been changed. I found the frame stamp by the front axle and it had a letter and the last 6 digits of the vin on the title. Is that all they stamp or do they usually have the first part as well- for example f10J was missing and D -with the other 6 digits were on the frame? Also were can you get the information to decode your vin #? Thanks in advance
I had the same problem with my 64 F100, in order to legaly impor it into Mexico I needed the frame VIN. Besides the one in the frame close to the front axle, there is a second VIN on the same frame but its under the cab, some times the numbers are hard to read but it should start like *F10.
