If in fact it had no forward, a mlps switch would not have fixed it, it just doesn't work like that. It just tells the computer what gear you have selected. The computer is not the one that causes the engagment, the manual valve is. It should go into gear even if you smash the mlps switch with a hammer. Drive it till it quits, just dont go out of town.

Well I just left a Dealership where I had a lengthy discussion about this transmission and how it works.

I also got a used one at the junk yard yest which I intend to make a maiden voyage on rebuilding my first E40D. I have no issues with mine yet.
