i love you but im not IN love with you...get my drift? LOL
anywho...how much drop drop would i need in my rad arm brackets to gain 3* of caster? i can get 78/79 brackets which would drop at least 2-3" from the 75s i have and i can get 78-79 drop brackets they would drop probly 6" from the 75s i have now
so would 2 or 3" of drop in the rad arm brackets be enough to gain 3* of caster?
im gonna put the brackets on it because once again my parts havent arrived and i was basically told they dont know where they are and they wont till they arrive so once again customs royally ****ed me...since i have the shop for tomorrow and tomorrow only so whatever im doing it has to be done tomorrow
but the brackets are way quicker to do then the bushing are so im cool with that, i just didnt want to drill more holes in my frame
Awww.. I feel so loved. Thanks for keeping a midlife crisis at bay.
Didn't you make the first brackets? Why wouldn't you just be able to modify/build new ones. You wouldn't need to drill new holes would you? I wouldn't think so, unless you put completely different brackets on it.
Oh and I was just looking at your signiature picture. Did you back over a small child riding a bike?
no thats my divinci hucker HT lol...i paid more for it then i did for my 91 f150 LMAO and i bought the bike used
because i have simply run out of time/money to drag this Fing project out any longer, its time to get this thing goin, i have 3 sets of 78/79 rad arm brackets and 1 set of 78/79 drop rad arm brackets, i can have them tomorrow and get this bitch done, if i fab the brackets that will take too long by the time i can get the steel few more holes in the frame shouldnt be a big deal any way
no the first brackets belong to a 75 ford...the one the axle came from, i wanted the 78/79 brackets to start with but the wrecker said since the 75 brackets were already out he didnt want to sell me the 78/79 brackets and told me to take the 75s...well now i need the 78/79 brackets any way so it would have saved me time effort and money if he would have done things my way the first time
and the 78/79 brackets differ from the 75 brackets in bolt pattern, but i think the 2 bolts on the bottom of the frame are the same but either way its only 3 more holes on each side ill keep bolts in the old holes lol
If you have access to the drop brackets get them. It will help you out in the long run by putting the arms more parallel to the ground at ride height. This way when you flex out the suspension, you will end up with a little more travel. The stock brackets with offset c bushings will get you there, but the rear arms will be in more of a bind at suspension droop.
if i remember right the stock 78/79 brackets will put my arms almost parallel with the ground they drop at LEAST 2" further then my 75's do, i have 4* bushings in now and still need 3* MORE to get the min. caster to pass safety and i think the stock 78/79 brackets will do it
the drop brackets for 78/79 drop 3" further than the stock ones do, so that would drop my rad arms 5-6" which will be too much if my memory serves me, i wish i had the truck here so i could figure it out
well they are already in and been that way for almost 9 hours now, soooo not very long?
i measured my caster with the digital driveling angle analyzer (say that 10x fast) at work and came up with 2.1* on the pass/side and 2.5* driver/side, now lets hope their alignment rack sees it the same way lol thats cuttin er pretty close, but even that 2.5* adjustment in caster made an improvement in handling either that or im just getting used to it lol
i only had to completely drill 1 new hole, the two bottom ones lined up perfectly and one of the top ones half lined up so i only had to drill half a hole LOL
i got my brake lines figured out so ill post pics of my solution to brake hose rubbing when i get the truck back, i showed the guy and he like it so its a good nuff idea to pass a write off inspection lol
i gotta get some pics my pinion angle improved greatly...almost dead even now and i tink those 78/79 stock brackets pushed my axle forward some too so thats another plus!
i SHOULD hear back tomorrow since they are only checking over the stuff that failed the last inspection
