I have a 2001 XLT 4x4 that I need to add a brake controller to. Does the Excursion have a socket for a plug and use set up? if so where is it located? Any recomendations on a brand? I have been looking at the Prodigy P3. Thanks for the help.
from the others who have a brake controller the prodigy is the top of the line. there is a pig tail that i had to buy. and the port is behind the cover under the steering wheel and i had to go through an opening towards the passengers side the connect the plug. it's in an area under the radio.

Just stick your head under the dash and you'll see the connector.
You will need to buy the adaptor pigtail plug so you can plug right into the connector... the wire colors are an industry standard on the pigtail, Blue, Black, White and Red
Many moons ago, I asked the same question. Aklim (Andrew) responded with the same info that's been posted here. I asked Andrew to take a pic for me because I couldn't find my plug.
Here is the picture Andrew took for me:
I was able to sift through the harness in that area and found the plug hidden from view.
That is looking towards the radio/climate control area, from the drivers side door.
