Looking for Bolt size for (302) Engine mounts.

Victim:
1979 F-100; V8 302 2bbl (supposedly factory)- Reg. Cab 2wd; Auto Trans.
(Vin: F10GNEG2426; Norfolk vehicle)

This vehicle was given to my nephew with a partially disassembled lower end (oil pan, pump and Screen filter). So upon getting down to reattaching the said items. We all noticed the bolts for the Engine mounts were missing.

If you were to look straight up at the engine block from being on your back these Bolts would be threading in away from you (straight up). Looks to be 2-bolts per mount; they look to be somewhere between a 3/8"-16 to 1/2"-13 (M8-M10?) thread size.

I'm hoping someone could or might have a bit more detail catalog stating this bolt size and length.

TIA!

For those curious ones...https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=38364

Much Obliged-for the effort!

I'm surprised I don't see more *New* hardware/mount kits for this vintage of vehicle. I can see replacing mounts after a certain period, but I would also be the type of person to replace hardware too. Unless... it's such a "common" size such as M8x1.25 or a 1/2"-13.

I tried looking up in the parts catalog for the engine mount bolts. Either I'm not paying enough attention, or it didn't have a description. I'll try again tomorrow.

99% sure that the are 7/16 Course thread.

They are NOT!! metric. No metric bolts EVER!! in the small block Fords.

dang, I just bolted mine up last week. I think they are 7/16 coarse thread, about 1 inch long, maybe 3/4 inch long though.

Just go to the hardware store and buy 4, 7/16 coarse thread and 4, 1/2 inch coarse thread bolts and then take back the ones you do not need.

Make sure you put a washer on them too.

Definitely not METRIC.

Yep, if you have to get hardware store bolts, make sure they are not to long or you will do some damage to the block. Like poison said, 3/4" long, with grade 8 washers.

The OEM Ford screws are MUCH better for the application then almost anthing you will find in most hardware stores. They are flared and serrated for a reason. If it was me I would rather go to a salvage yard and get the oem screws from an engine in the "motor pile".

There is a local store to me that specialises in nuts, bolts and screws. They would have OEM type screws. Maybe your area has a store like that.

I found them earlier this morning... I put a Turn-pass Yield in there with a lock.

engine mount to 302 block bolts

These are the bolts that face up you install from the bottom. They are 7/16" coarse thread by 1" long. The single bolt at the bottom of most engine mounts is 1/2" coarse. sometimes the engine is crooked and you cant get the bolt to start right, jack the engine up and push it around with jacks on the exhaust manifolds, don't cross thread the bolts. Of course previous owner may have cross threaded it already. Sometimes you can repair by teasing a tap in, sometimes you have to drill out an put in a helicoil.
