It's also been said that if someone were to buy, say jeep for instance. The new owner would be partly responsable for paying back part of the bailout monies if the sale wouldn't cover it. That may turn back some prospective buy'ers.

if the bailout money needs paid back, i'm pretty sure jeep will go under. the market for 4 wheel drive vehicles isn't that high to begin with and jeep is solely 4wd right now afaik. it'd be a bad investment for any of the chrysler brands if the money needs paid back. Dodge trucks are the only thing keeping them afloat right now and we all kno how reliable those are (recalls horror stories of people losing 2-3 gears in their automatic transmissions on the drive home from the dealership, rebuilds before 100 miles, high maitenance?)

At this point these incompetently run companies need to die and be replaced by something else. Nostalgia isn't an economic model and these fossils are a drag on innovation. Ford will probably survive because it was better led, but the punishment for business failure should be business death.
