I hate to zombie this thread... but my search brought it up right away.. and I need some clarity.
I'm looking at a 1986 f250 LD - 5.0L 302 EFI, 133" wheelbase
Type is F261 and Axle code B5 tells me it's a 4.10 LS differential with 5300LB... The only stampings on the axle I can find say "FORD"., there is a little metal tag that says V11A or something like that (I can clean it up more if necessary for a better read).
How do I tell if this is Dana or Sterling axle? I'm going to have to buy some parts and they are listed for the Dana or a Sterling E6.
I had the same problem...go to www.martiauto.com .. .Could not find anything on my 1987 Ford E 350 Econoline RV cutaway they were great cost about $ 25.00 with shipping but they told me everything I will ever need to know .. found out I have A Dana 12,000Lb Axle when the internet said it should be 7.500 LB
