It is and it isn't, you need to be able to check and set backlash and the pattern when you are done thanks to the adjusters that make a 9" so easy to set up.
Well I may just swap out thr ring and pinion and knock out the bearing races and put the good rear bearing race in. I'll just pull the pinion shaft and pinion bearings and yoke as a unit and bolt it in my 3'rd member after putting in the good rear pinion race if I don't come across one I can just swap out without the extra work since I have a disabled left arm.

It's primarily a daily driver but occasionally I haul a lawn mower or aluminum boat but I'm thinking of getting a wolf pup camper and I feel it's going to struggle to haul that much weight with that rear plus it's got a lot of slop and it's going to need a rebuild or replacement eventually
My axle code is 34. I can't find it on any charts. As far as I know it's a Dana 60 but not sure what ratio. Any help would be great thanks. 1984 F250 HD, Axle and ratio help?
Hello, How do I know what size ring gear I have in my 1985 F-350 460 4x4? The rear Axel has a tag on it but I don't know what the number means besides the 4.10 is my ratio. The door sticker says the Axel code is G2. I was trying to buy new drums for my rear end brakes and the guy at the auto parts store said there are two drums pended upon my ring gear size.
If you go on rockauto, there are many different ones, depending on if it's single rear wheel or dual rear wheel. They also use the center mounting hole diameter. I would pull one off and measure the actual drum, and see how it compares with the ones on rockauto. Then you can use the rockauto number to determine the part you need. G2 decodes as a Dana/Spicer rearend. It gives no info on the ring gear diameter. They have pictures on rockauto also.
