So I was thinking of changing the fluid in my limited slip rear axle this weekend and was wondering what fluid to use? Do I need the limited slip additive or can I get lube that already is set up for these diffs?
Thanks
Don't know what year your ride is, but newer rides come from the factory with lubed for life synthetic differential fluid & friction modifier, that Ford says needn't be changed, unless the differential has been opened up & worked on.
All that said, if your still of mind to change it, be sure to use a synthetic gear lube that says on the container that it meets Fords specifications & add the specified 4oz of friction modifier.
Some gear lubes say they already contain friction modifier, but who knows how much????
Opt for the Motorcraft synthetic gear lube, with the specified 4oz of friction modifier & know for sure you have the right recipe.
