Need a quick answer !!!
HOW do you get the gear shift lever out of the top of the 4 speed tranny in a heavy duty '83 F-150 4WD??? In the old ones I used to push down the cup, turn left and lift, but that doesn't seem to work on this one. we want to pull the engine and tranny with the transfer case on it. We have the front stripped off so we can pull it all out straight forward.

Is it a T18/19 or a NP435?
I know when I had to pull the shifter out of my T18 I couldn't figure it out, and so I was just wiggling it trying to feel the slot for it to come out, then it just came out without me expecting it to. If I remember I had to push it up to the left then pull up and down and out she came.
