hows it goin guys? i'm lookin at getting a truck. but i know nothing about them, always been a car guy. anyway i wanna get a truck a couple years old not brand new, and something that'll hold up. anyway heres what i want in it
4wd never know when you'll need this
comfy enough to drive all the time
but i don't need an extended cab
capability to tow a 2800 pound racecar on a trailer.
let me know what i need guys
total trailer weight i don't know, i assume 5000 or less
i'd probably about every weekend for the 7 months or so when the tracks open.
budget less than 15k around ten if possible but that's doubtful.

Grab the best F-250 you can for your dollar. No need to go deisel, but would be nice, up to you. 15 can get you a nice deisel if you shop. not much else to worry about, it's just options from there.
how high of miles are a no no with this kind of truck?
I wouldn't worry to much about miles, but more it's overall condition. Well cared for these trucks will go alllooong time, even more so with a deisel. Try and asses if the truck has been cared for or abused.
Ask for a carfax, look at the front fenders, factory they are stamped with "ford" on the top inside edge. If not then it's been in an accident and cheaply repaired.
Is the edge of the drivers seat worn out, Is all the plastic covers and stickers there under the hood, does it need a belt, is the inside of the bed banged up, things like that.
another question which is the stronger transmission the manual or automatics?
That's a good one, for what your doing either is fine. For a real answer it also depends on gas or deisel, and year.
I would say this, for the most part the auto is stronger, but with the deisel more prone to fail. The manual is weaker but can last as long as the truck(except clutches) with a good driver.
It's really up to you and what you like to drive, if you like a manual, look for one but they are hard to find. Even more so if you want a deisel. And it doesn't matter if you want a gas 4wd there is no manual option.
Also if your after 4wd get the manual lever not the electric stuff, it's more prone to failure.
