I did do a search to see if anything was posted like my concern. As stated above, the truck won't start. Let's get to the basics; truck is an 05 F350 CC 4X4 obviously diesel. It has 85,000 miles on it.
The truck will fire up normal when it is cool. But when I drive it, shut it down it won't fire back up. It just started doing this last night while I was plowing. Drove the truck all day yesterday with no issues. Started right up everytime. I shut the truck off early this morning to talk with my employees and it didn't start right back up. Went on the second turn of the key. Came home took a little nap decided to go have lunch and the truck started right up, after lunch started right up. Stopped by the Ford dealer to talk to my buddy that works there about it,but he took today off. Went home shut the truck off and for giggles tried to start it.....nothing, cranks fine. No check engine light at all.
I'm sure ya'll already know this, but just wanted to clarify ............. Chances are it is not the pump itself but in the discharge tubing system. the most common leaking point is the snap-to-connect fitting. There are a few other places that, when leaking, will cause the same issues.
There are no visible leaks though. It makes sense, what you described but wouldn't there be a visible leak?
It doesn't really make sense that it starts after it cools back down. I just went out to the garage and it fired right up. It seems that if the pump went out it would not start at all.
You will not see leaks from the high pressure oil system leaks. The primary leak points are in the valley of the engine and covered up well. Since it is a high pressure hydraulic system, small leaks can prevent the build up of the necessary pressure.
Hot oil leaks, cold oil doesn't - classic symptom.
Yeah that makes sense. I understand that better. I'm going to talk with my buddy at the dealer tomorrow and get an appointment to get a bunch of stuff done.
