hmm...dont know, if its mechanical it well be on either side of the block at the front of the motor..google it i guess. you haven't screwed with timing have you?
It is probably the ignition module. They are notorious for suddenly going out. I have had about 15 Mopar vehicles in the past, so i am speaking from experience. Look for signs of the wax coating melting off the back of the module. Thoroughly clean the mounting surface of melted wax before installing the new module.
thanks alot man...i planned on picking one up in the morning...ill post back on here and tell you what happens...i was working on that truck for about 5 hours in his driveway while he wasnt even home today lol...2moro ill be taking a lot more tools lol...well cross your fingers ill let you now how it goes
If you swap the module and it still doesn't start, you might want to try a new cap/rotor anyway. I had an 80 Dodge with the 318 that would occasionally not start. Everything looked good. I pulled a plug and checked for spark and I saw a spark so assumed it was good. After 2 days of fiddling with it I bought an in-line spark checker. I had an occasional spark, sometimes it was there and then it would just disappear. I put a new cap and rotor on and never had another problem after that.
Yes i checked for spark...om getting spark through the coil but dont know how far past that...ive changed the ballast resistor, some radio frequency thing, and tried a bunch of stuff...im thining it is either
1# Fuse ( these trucks dont have normal ones they are like wire fuse's and hard to find)
2# rotor button/ distributor...
3# some spark controler or something like that(my good friend at the part store said can only get at dealership for around 400$)
if it is the last one i wont be fixing it lol...ill be selling it to my friend at the part store for a decent price of around 200$
