Hey all, popped down from the 99-03 forum. Found this little gem on craigslist and wanted to know what you all think. I'm not well educated in the 94-97 style, but I know the 7.3 well. Sounds like a nice truck, but i figured i'd ask the experts to this body style. Opinions, comments, things to watch out for? Thanks all
Looks like a sharp truck. Ditch the BD and get a good tuner/chip and you'd be set. Last week, I had a buddy install a set of 150cc injectors (mini swamps I believe) in my 97 work truck. I have some mild tuning using I believe swamps tuning, and my gosh, that truck really came to life. The truck weighs 13,000lbs, and has 4.56 gears, and I believe it would out run a stock 7.3 with all that weight on it.
O believe me the BD would be gone and a DP would be there without a doubt. I'm assuming its an h2e setup... The only other concern i have is gearing as he doesn't mention it in his post
It does sound to me that it's an h2e and with stock sticks that would be pretty laggy seeing as it's only spittin 90ish cc's. And for $8900 ben from total performance diesel is selling his truck that is imaculate. And has a boat load of upgrades done to it. But your question about the exahust, a 4 inch dp is possible bit with a lot of massaging of the firewall. It's most common for a 3" dp to a 4" exauhst.
That's an H2E and it would have a Hypermax 3" downpipe that opens up to 3.5" on the bottom half. Even with stage I's it takes a bit to get it to spool.
Yep H2E. Either he has stock injectors or forgot to mention the larger injectors. Like Rodney said it would spool slow. If it truely does have stock injector a DIY kit can fix that! I think its a sharp looking truck and if its as good as it sounds it a good deal! I would ask about the clutch though. If its the stock clutch it will be on its last legs. If its been replaced ask if its a stock clutch or a single mass conversion. The single mass is better!
Well it says new clutch in the last year and a half, done with ford parts. guessing its still DMF and a stock clutch. With that turbo and if you upgrade injectors youre gonna need an aftermarket clutch. Correct me if I'm wrong.
