Most SD guys don't see much benefit from a 10k mod. If you want to do it, pick up a 5.6k resistor and a 10k pot. The pot allows you to adjust the resistance to anwhere from 0 to 15.6k, though I can't recall how to wire it up right now.
Short answer- I wouldn't waste your time.

Agreed. I tried it. Ripped it out.. Then a month later hooked it back up. To only rip it out and give up. Seen no benefit except a rough erratic idle. A on/off switched hooked up to the go peddle might help so that it will only work when you hit the go peddle ??? . Nah. it won't be me..
