i want to do somethings to the motor, nothing look wise i just want to increase performance, any ideas?
Also my speedometer doesn't work so i bought the cable, is that gonna be a pain to replace or will it be rather easy? and any other suggestions what it might be wrong with it?
headers are a good way to "wake" up your engine,,as well as some simple tuning,,you would be suprised how well you can get your engine to run by just simply turing a few bolts
put a 400 crank in it ( more cubes = more power), headers, manifold, and maybe a new carb depending on what you have now. Search the engine forums there is heaps of info in there.
Enjoy FTE and welcome aboard.

headers then dual flow masters wold probably sound pretty nice but would that bump up my HP a bit? or just make her sound better?
In all honesty the exhaust upgrades aren't really that noticable as far as power unless you started with a very restricted system, or you changed from exhaust manifolds to headers. Do the carb and intake swap, if you have the $$ do some headers and some nice exhausts (expensive mufflers aren't needed for a nice sound). And definitely tune up the carb and adjust timing if needed. You would be amazed how much power you can lose from a poorly adjusted carb. As far as the speedo, I hear its easy never did the change myself so I can't say first hand...If your cable doesn't fix it then there is a plastic speedo drive gear at the transmission or t-case end of the speedo cable. If that is in workin order its your speedo cluster in the dash, I've had that go out before...

what kind of intake manifold/ carb would you recommend?
my neighbor had a d*dge r*m w/a flowmaster 2 pipes in 2 pipes out style muffler. makes some noise, but only when you hammer on it. nice thoaty sound. personally tho, i would rather put pistons, cam, and timing in the engine before anything else, so it wouldnt have to be torn down again later
I have been semi partial to edelbrocks, they are good solid reliable carbs, simple to tune and easy to modify. The metering rods are super easy to change and the jets are even easier. I put an edelbrock performer rpm on my 390 and you wouldn't believe the change. I however was going from a 2 barrel carb to a 4 barrel, so the change was incredible anyway. But for the price edelbrock was nice, I know a lot of people use the truck avenger carbs but they are outrageously priced when I was looking, I hear good things about Holley but I also have heard they are hard to tune so depending on your ability you might go Edelbrock or Holley. Either will be way better than stock.

ok so elderbrock carb and eldebrock intake manifold? what type of carb do i need to get for my truck?

What do you think electronic choke or manual choke carb? installation/performance wise?
go for the electric choke, its simple to hook up just need a keyed 12v source and that way you don't have to dick with hooking up the manual linkage. Call edelbrock they are awesome and they will tell you what carb and intake to get for what your looking for. They will even tell you what jets and metering rods they suggest for engine/altitude.
