Well...you're not going to find anyone else here with the same point as far as I know. We have several lifted Rangers but to the best of my knowledge, no lowered Rangers.
Lowered my 2002 (2.3L & 5-speed) with 3" drop front springs by suspension max. For the rear, dismounted and flipped the shackle brackets and shackles to mimic a later model F150 vice flipping springs to an undermount. Much easier. Brackets bolt to frame following drilling for 1/2" Grade 8 bolts. Drops - Front 3" rear about 4.5" Underside looks stock. Did not need to cut bump stops. Still can carry about 900 lbs before hitting bumps stop to axle. Used Gabriel Proguard 61626 fronts and 61519 rears. Added BFG P225/70R15 Long Trails for the tires. Truck is a daily driver and rides great! Pretty inexpensive too!
Doing the leaf spring hanger flip is the best way to go, adn all you have to buy it the grade 8 bolts to replace the rivets. As for the front i would go with a 2 inch drop spindle. You will maintain a stock ride, and you will still have some travel in the front. I would recomend putting some air shocks on the back so if you do haul anything you can pump it up so it doesn't bottom out.
hey teddy, how of a difference is there between the 225/70-15 and the stock tires 235/70-15. how bad did it offset the speedo. i have 01 extended cab that im thinking about lowering
My unit came with 225/70-15 vice the 235/70-15. My guess is a 4% increase in true speed vice indicated speed - going faster than indicated (52MPH vice 50MPH indicated).
