I thought I'd share this. Lately I have been having troubles with the infamous OEM CD player like most of you. I have used original CDs only and not copies. So this past Saturday, I was thinking on how to "reset/initialize" the unit. First I thought I'd pull the unit out with a radio puller I had borrowed from a co-worker. Did that and I thought, what next? Do I take it apart and remove my 6 CDs from inside the unit. Nah! I put the radio back in, unplugged the battery, waited roughly 5 minutes and plugged the battery back in.
Wala! The unit re-initialized itself; by doing this it also reset all 6 CD drives by checking them individually.
Now my CD player is back and working. To think I almost bought a new head unit.
When you disconnect the power for a few minutes mine cycles through all of the trays to see which are full. I have only seen it say initializing once or twice, both times I had the player out and I think I flipped them upside down and let them sit out over night. I don't know what this had to do with it but it was different from the normal search mode.
