i will be installing a new a/c compressor in my 1992 f150 with the inline 300. i will probably do it either tomorow or the next day, and i had a few questions. the freon is already emptied out of the system, so no need to worry about illegally letting it spray everywhere. how hard will it be to get the hoses back onto the new compressor? do i need to press anything on or do something unusual? it looks like i could take off the power steering pump to access the compressor. let me know if that isnt the best way to do it. also, how do i remove the tension from the serp belt? i think there is a nut i can turn by the tensioner, but i have to look at it again. all help is appreciated. thanks!!

If you do not have a vacuum pump and gauge set then just take the compressor and the the truck someplace and have them put it on and charge the system.
I think 1992 was still R12 so has your system been converted to R134a?
If not do you have a source for the R12?
If it has been converted to R134a and you have a vacuum pump, a gauge set and the R134a then just replace the green "O" rings and the connection at the rear when you replace it.
Yes you would put a wrench on the bolt and take to the belt off and I do not know if the PS pump needs to come off but would not think so.
thanks for the info. i will be installing the compressor myself. i am pretty sure it hasnt been converted to the new refrigerant. i am short on cash so i will have to put the compressor in and see what happens from there.
