Fuel pump went out - common?

My dad's "newer" 08 6.4 fuel pump went out during a "big" tow of a backhoe up a hill.. Truck completely shutdown. Ford is replacing it but what else should be replaced as a result? I.E. should the injectors all be replaced now as well..just wondering what the fuel pump took with it when it went out..

And, anyone else had this problem on the new 6.4?

I have heard of only one other person who is in the process of trying to pin his issue down. His may or may not be the pump. So it is rare.

It's not uncommon, but rare. I doubt you will need to replace any injectors. They can do a injector cutoff test performed on all the injectors to see if they are working correctly (if Ford does this).

Lift pumps are more common (especially using a programmer/tuner over time).

Well, he's running completely stock - luckily!!! The pump had been going "slowly" - he had a noticable power loss for a while - truck would only go about 30mph and no power, then complete shutdown..

I have heard of a couple of these but they were all early builds. No other repairs were necessary and no problems since then.

Hi superv10! I suppose " the other man having issues and resolving them" is me senix talked about I badly need advice from technics from US maybe You can ask them how to be sure that high fuel pressure pump is dead on my truck... I was goin on cruise last 10 miles before my truck shut down, but i realised that turbo boost went to 20-25 instead of usual 10 on this piece of road i do everyday. Then i checked mpg - it was only 5mpg??? - truck empty at all and only 5 gal of fuel!!! I think all of this shows my truck struggled with clogged fuel filters. Now when i turn ignition key on but not start the engine,my lifting pump is workin about 30 seconds, fuel is comin back in fuel tank which means that it is workin. But then if i open hood i hear high tone sound, not loud but distinctive - is it sound of high pressure fuel pump or anything else is workin??? Is it possible that in process of changin fuel filter we got air bubbles in system and now fuel cannot get to fuel rail and high pressure pump?
Thanks for readin, hope for help guys.
