if I remember right 411 is an up stream code on the drivers side on one bracket there 3 vaccume opperated things to check they will all have 2 lines one will pull vaccume and where the pintle controls air flow it will be at top of the intake where the air box connects cylinder shaped with a wiring harness
It would depend if you have an Electric Pump or a Mechanical Pump.
If you have an Mechanical Pump:
DTC P0411 indicates that Secondary Air is not being diverted when requested.
Possible causes:
--Vacuum hoses damaged.
--AIRB/AIRD valve inoperative.
--Air Pump inoperative.
--AIRB/AIRD solenoids damaged.
Visually inspect vacuum lines for disconnects in the AIR system.
Visually inspect for proper vacuum line routing. Refer to VECI decal.
Visually inspect Air Pump for broken or loose Air Pump Belt.
If you have an Electric Pump:
DTC P0411 indicates Secondary Air not detected. In order to test the pump, it must be capable of driving the HO2S lean.
NOTE:
Some applications have one or two Air Diverter (AIRD) valves.
Key off.
Visually inspect EAP hoses from the EAP to the AIRD valves.
Inspect air hose for cracks, binding and obstructions.
Are EAP hoses OK?

It has a mechanical air pump and the belt is newer. I replaced the 2 solenoids on the drivers side because I was getting another code but they were used from another truck so one still could be bad. The vacuum lines were put in the right spots. So it must be the one of the solenoids or the AIRB/AIRD valve. How do I test them?
Not sure what kind of AIRB/AIRD valves you have without looking at your VECI decal and I would need your Calibration number off the drivers door post to do that.
As for the 2 solenoids they are to vent the vacuum line attached to them when ungrounded and supply vacuum to it when grounded. They have 12 VDC on them at all the time the key is on and the computer grounds them to turn on the vacuum.
OK its December 2010 and my inspection is up the end of this month. I got through last time by erasing the code and going through inspection before it came back on. Now it comes back right at 50 miles so something needs to be done. Im going to check to make sure the air pump is working tonight but is their anything I can do to make the code not pop up? Maybe block the AIRB and AIRD solenoids? This is my only code. The truck has 334k if that matters. I should have taken parts from the cfc trucks but now they are gone forever
OK if I block the hoses off that go to the solenoids will that eliminate them from working? Thats what I have neen told. I think its the air pump though bc the cel comes on when the truck is idling. Maybe it doesnt pump enough air at idle. The the solenoids read pressure from that?
Update: I just checked the pump and air is coming out while running but at idle I can hold my finger over the hole. Is there supposed to be more pressure than that? I have no clue but if I rev the motor it pumps good and hard.
OK I blocked the vacuum lines with bolts and put caps over the TAB and TAD solenoids and the code still comes back right at 50 miles. The air pump does pump air I took the hose off and made sure although the pressure coming out at idle is pretty low. Any ideas? I need to make it through inspection.

Yes but it will give you the P0411 code.

The solenoid do not read pressure and have no output to the computer.
Blocking vacuum lines will cause the 411 code.
You may have bad solenoids, vacuum lines or air pump.
How it works:
An upstream and downstream functional air flow test is performed during idle, once per engine start-up, and only after all HO2S Monitor tests have been successfully performed. The flow test relies upon the upstream and downstream HO2S to detect the presence of additional air in the exhaust when introduced by the Secondary Air Injection system.
The DTCs associated with this test are DTCs P0411 and P1411.
The MIL is activated after the above test fail on two consecutive drive cycles.
OK the pump does work and pumps air. I took the hose off and started the motor. It pumps well when you rev the motor but it seems weak at idle. Im not sure how much it should pump. The solenoids I replaced before due to a 414 code and it went away. Im not too knowledgeable with the emissions stuff thats why im asking. Any way to check the vacuum lines without completely removing them? I really appreciate your time.
You still have not gave us your CALIBRATION Code off the drivers door so we can look up your vacuum diagram.
I would take the vacuum lines off one at a time from the combination AIRB/AIRD valve and hook them to a vacuum gauge (maybe the hand pump stile).
Then start the engine and let it idle while you watch the gauge. It should show vacuum when it does its self test.
The boost gauge I have doesnt read vacuum so ill have to buy one. If I unhook the lines one at a time I guess I should feel a pull on my finger so ill try that.
Is that what the code should look like? Im pretty sure the 96 trucks are different than the 95 and older bc of the obd2. Seems I have alot of one year only parts.
Yes that is the tool.
As I said above most auto parts stores will rent them.
Yes that is what the code should look like but the Ford site does not have that code listed.
