Oil pump install 302
Another question. I bought a standard volume oil pump and it came with 2 gaskets. One for the pick-up tube/screen and "the other for the pump to engine?" The instaructions say nothing about the gaskets. I have never installed ant\ oil pump on any engine with a gasket between the mating surfaces of the pump and block. So question is for some reason does a 302 require one at pump to engine? I'm sure the old one did not have one ther.

I'd use the one for the pickup but the oil pump to block just make sure your bolt are tight. Mine didn't have a gasket where the oil pump mounted to the block either. It's up to you if you want to use it or not.

The gasket between the pump and pickup is important to insure no air gets sucked into the pump, while if there is any slight leakage at the block surface, a drop of oil will get pumped out there occasionally and drip back into the pan.
