Unhappy Pricing Help

Hate to say it...but I'm kinda getting bored with my truck. It's made it almost 3 yrs and had a good run. But as usual, I'm becoming less interested in it. Lately I've been thinking about a 2007+ Mustang GT...or the 2003 Cobra 2 houses down.

Luckily the economy is in the hole, so I can't easily get rid of it (sarcasm)

Anyhoo, between Nada, Kelly Blue Book, and Edmunds I have been getting an average of about $22,000 to $23,000 for the truck retail, and about $17,000 to $19,500 for trade-in.

I know those prices are somewhat inflated. I'm wanting to sell it Private Party to make the most money. What do y'all think I could get for my truck?

My mods include:
RoushCharger
2.5" Leveling Kit
Magnaflow Dual Exhaust
Bull Bar
Recon Clearance Lights
Black Headlights
Boost, A/F, Tranny Temp Gauges
Vent Shades
From the factory, the truck is a SuperCrew FX4 Luxury package. 5.4 3v motor, 3.73 LS axle, All Leather, Center Console, Dual Power Seats, Heated Seats, Power/Heat Mirrors, Sliding Rear Window, Moonroof, Power Pedals, CC/Radio Steering Wheel, 18" FX4 rims

about the only options I'm missing is the Lariat Trip Computer and the backup sensors.

25,800 miles, interior is in immaculate condition, tires are at about 1/2 the tread life, paint isn't excellent, but very good condition (pitted PTM front bumper)...no dents/scratches at all otherwise

I've done oil changes at every 3,000 miles with the Motorcraft stuff

thanks guys. I'm only gonna do it if I can sell it and pocket a little cash. Otherwise, keep ahold of her. But I'd like a rough estimate of what might be fair pricing. Throw a few lines out there and see what I can reel in.

IMO, selling your truck to get a mustang would be a downgrade, to say the least.

I can't imagine selling a truck for 20,000 with a 5,000 dollar super charger on it. Among other things, Don't get me wrong I love mustangs but I would say if have the money maybe pick a fox body with just as much power and styling for much cheaper. They are really starting to pick up in value.

I can understand your thoughts leaning to something other than a truck. I believe that should you get another truck you would be disappointed as you have created a work of art, no of Tylus. $22k around here sounds about right for a modded '06 truck to a knowledgeable buyer. $25k for some of the younger showoffs. A salesman quoted me $24,900 for a '08 FX2 Sport Supercrew with 10k miles yesterday. As I paid $22k for a brand new'08 FX2 Sport Supercab 8 months ago I felt that he was a bit high priced. To be fair to him he was at a Mercedes dealership so he was working from that viewpoint.
I think that the reason for your "boredom" is that you are running out of creative material to work with. I can understand that. But don't let that drive you to making a mistake in my opinion. I agree with the Dutchman that a Mustang would be a lesser vehicle at least until you worked your wonders with it. I would like to remind you that the babies are going to grow and will need more room for traveling than a Mustang will provide.

I agree...You won't be able to get what your truck is really worth. Not sure if you can find a Fox body in Hawaii, but you won't be there forever. My wife picked up her 1990 Fox for about $1500 in 2007. With a little work we have gone from a stock 15 second car to a mid 13 second street legal drag car.
Keep the truck, the kids will love you for it.

KEEP THE TRUCK!!! For all of the reasons already mentioned. Especially for the all the room it will provide with the kids onboard.

Cheers,

GD.

oh I probably will regret it...but I'm running out of things I can do. And I'm just not sure if I want to sink another $3,000 to $4,000 into it for Lift/Tires

The neighbor has a 2003 Cobra with 500 RWHP for sale that I'd positively love...or I'd get me a 08 Mustang Bullet and put a blower on it.

as for kids, I have a "family" SUV...POS Dodge that it is. I was looking at replacing that thing, but a Expy would run me $57,000
I got a little money, but not that.

btw, Fox bodies are nice, but I don't want the associated issues you have with a car that is older than 5 yrs. I had nothing but 20+ yr old vehicles growing up...I cannot stand that crap now. Rather pay some money for a vehicle that is problem free and I could hop into and drive 2,000-3,000 miles without wondering what will break.

Even with rebates a expy would run you $57,000. My local dealer has a loaded Limted EL 4x4 black with every option avaible with on 30,000 miles for like $30,000 or a new 08 XLT 4x4 for $28,000. Or get rid of the dodge make the truck the family vehicle and get a mustang!

for those of y'all with brothers/sisters...remember when you were little and you sat next to them in the rear seat...and how pissed off you made your parents?

that is why I can't ditch the SUV. The truck holds all the kids just fine...but they can touch each other. And that is ANNOYING as hell. Now I know what I made my parents go through

rebates for a new Expy were only $1,500 to $2,000. And I can't find a used one for any decent money...same thing happened last year when I was looking for one. They actually seem to have gone up in price since April 2008. The 2007 models here locally are going for almost $40,000 used. By the pricing, apparently Dealerships aren't aware things are crappy.

I'm going to get the truck all shiny and gleaming this week and see what I can get. Probably just a wild goose chase, but maybe I'll get a serious buyer.

That is crazy prices for a used expedition! You could probably buy one from like washington and have it shipped to you for cheaper.

Yeah

I've been looking all over the Island for a good Mustang Gt and the prices are...well high to say the least. $38,000-55,000 for a GT to a GT500 new. $21,000 - $30,000 for a used 06+ GT

this whole endeavor may be destroyed before it starts. I am not paying that kinda money for a car...used at that. Might have to wait until I can fly home to Texas. Then buy something there and drive to California to ship out here
