Hi, I own a 1984 f-250 4-speed 4x4 with a 4" lift and 35'' tires. I want to take my 351W out and rebuild it but i want to change it. instead of being such a chug along turtle i want to do something to my motor that will give me more power and get me around faster. My dad owns an auto repair shop so i can get anything i need but i just need idea and advise on what to do to my motor. I use it for daily driving, and off roading. I was thinking of the 427 stroker kit....good idea or bad idea? maybe i should just have Crane Cams custom cut a cam for me?
The first thing you should define is your budget. A stroker is a great project but it's not cheap, the whole bottom end has to be rebuilt and then it needs new heads and intake, the stock heads are WAY too small for a 351 nevermind a stroker.
