I have read several threads/ complaints regarding the 80e and tranny problems... From what I understand Jody has since modified the tune and eliminated this problems... you might see if you guys with tranny issues have the latest version of the 80e.
Second point is that its my understanding that the 140 besides being a smoker has more low end torque than the 120. however Jody recommends the 120 as max for stock or slightly modified engines. if you have the PMR's then probably best to err on the side of caution
oh and the other thin was the 60 vs 80e is the 60 is designed for highway economy and the 80 for in town driving.. (per a previous email Jody sent me)
i want to make sure it doesnt sound like i think it's a problem. DP is a great product and Jody and Diane have been excellent to work with. It seems to this in the more agressive settings only but is pretty much isolated to the sort of lurching when it's being driven somewhat aggressively.
From your signature I don't see you have any tranny upgrades... for the higher HP tunes you will really benefit from a VB upgrade or a Transgo or similar shift kit. you can only do so much to correct for the added power electronically.
Perhaps you guys can tell me if this is normal. I have a good solid stock tranny but when I have the do in my 80e setting or any or the performance settings my shifts get really weird under heavy acceleration. I do need to get either a wicked wheel or a new housing but I can't imagine that would affect the feeling of hard shirt under power. Any ideas?
I think what you are experiencing is probably as a result of the increased line pressure. The more aggressive tunes will shift harder because it's better for the longevity of the transmission not to "ease" into the next gear, because that "easing" is essentially slipping of the bands and it produces a lot of heat. That's one of the reasons that electronically controlled tranny's when they sense an issue, up the line pressure's and "bang" into gear. It's allows you to do as little damage as possible with a damaged tranny. Hopefully Mark Kovalsky will be along shortly to shed some light on the subject, and confirm or deny what I have said as being accurate.
I have both 120 and 140 tunes, the 120 goes but the 140 goes with a kick of sand in the face. I did it to a girl that kep squezing me out of my lane last week. She had her window down and kept signalling me to mov over, set it to 140 and got out of her way.
