I installed my F5 switch and chip today and it runs awesome in all the tunes (80econo, 120, and 140 aggressive). However, I noticed that when I switch to the stock program at idle, the RPM's drop really low and it almost sounds like the engine is going to die then the RPM's jump back up higher than normal then back to normal RPM range. What could be causing this? Also, on the 140 aggressive setting, I get no smoke at all. I know I won't get that much because I dont have injectors and everything but i get literally no smoke. Does anyone know why? Thanks for the help guys, and the DP tuner definitely lived up to its reputation in performance.
I wouldn't really call that a problem..
the tuner works by over-riding the factory settings as far as idle speed, idle fuel delivery, timing, etc..
the first time I fired mine off after installing mine, there was a marked difference in how it sounded when it fired...
so when you flip it back to stock program, it's going to take the computer a second to figure out whats going on (the stumble)
and it's then going to respond like it was originally programmed (the flare)
Good, I was hoping there wasn't a problem because now that I drove it, I don't want to part with it lol. Do you know any reason I wouldnt get any smoke from the 140 aggressive tune though?
When I want to smoke somebody in that tune, I use the gas and the brake together and and keep the RPMS around 1500, High RPMs provide very little smoke for me also
As far as I know my truck does not have injectors in it, yet when in the 140 aggressive tune, it blows out a huge black cloud with even the slightest touch of the gas.

are u running bio? otherwise, something is a miss cuz it doesn't take much at all for me to leave a rain cloud on someone behind me.
$5.00 per gallon for fuel and we STILL want to run it through the system UNBURNED?????
Uhhhh.....Yeah!!!
As for the 140 tune not smoking, it should most definitely smoke. It should smoke in 80E 120 and 140, a little darker as you go higher in number but all of them will smoke very well if your trucks HPOP is healthy.
my truck does the same thing going back into stock at an idle.. its the sudden drop in ICP and the injectors need to level out....your good to go there....
I'm running regular diesel, not bio. Do you think if the contacts arent clean enough that it could be causing the no smoke issue? The power feels extremely strong to me but just no smoke. Its not that big of a deal but its kinda cool to be able to smoke someone on demand.
Don't think its the chip or the install, Mine will turn on street lights as well. Hows your fuel filter? Pressure? Remember, you have to have the fuel to dump it, black smoke is unburned fuel, and yes, even at $5.00 a gallon, I still blow some out once in a while.
I just took the truck out for a drive and for some reason I am getting tons of smoke now. It also feels more powerful to me. I don't know what happened but I like it lol.
