Bucking in reverse

Hey everybody, I have a 2001 F-250 PSD that every once in a while will buck while I am in reverse. Almost a stutter. Any idea what it could be? I tried to search but couldn't get anything. Thanks Jason

I see in your profile that you have an automatic transmisson. Do you notice any issues when in forward gears?

The first thing to check is the u-joints. Often they will seem tight, but if you jack up a rear wheel to release the tension, you can find one to be very worn.

nothing driving forward. It only happened a couple times. I just wanted to catch it if its something bad. Also maybe I just haven't noticed it before but the overdrive light flashes until I start do drive. I may just now notice it since the reverse thing is happening. Thanks

If the overdrive light is flashing, there should be codes stored. Have someone read them with a code reader that works on the diesel trucks. Ask around and make sure the code reader is compatible. A cheap one will not recognize the codes, and thus will say that there are none stored.

I found out the problem via another problem and fix. It was the MLP switch. The electrodes were corroded and wouldn't start in park. Since the electrodes were goofed up the relay would send a fault to the PCM telling the HPOP to stop operating intermentantly. Replaced the MLP switch with 2 8mm bolts and 5 min. All issues fixed. No OD light blinking now either. Thanks for the help
