Exhaust Manifold Flange Gasket Question
This is for a 97 250HD with the 7.5L gas engine. At 77k miles a new donut (flange gasket) was installed on the passenger side exhaust manifold. Now at 108k miles it needs it again. Last time I had a shop do it while I was on the road. This time I went to Autozone and was told there is no such part.
Can someone clarify that there is a gasket there?
Thanks,
Jason

I have my passenger side manifold off right now due to a sheared off rear stud. It appears it was leaking at the y pipe/manifold flange as well. I have heard of people using "doughnut gaskets", but someone said they were a GM/Chevy part?
Did you have any luck fixing this?
Id rather not have to replace the Y pipe... I got the passenger side manifold off without breaking any bolts, which considering nearly 19 years old and 300k on the clock, it was not the nightmare I had anticipated. I don't wanna tempt fate by touching the drivers side

I am very sorry for the late reply.
My truck has 110,000 miles on it. It first happened around 83k miles and I took it to a shop who I swore showed me an old part but also kept saying it just got out of adjustment. This was 2010 though so my memory is short on details. It costed about $100 and I thought most of the time was waiting for the parts guy to show up with a new donut.
Back at my regular mechanic shop this time around all he did was heat up the studs to loosen them and re-adjust the pipe so that it didn't leak. He was formerly a Ford factory tech and said that I shouldn't need to alter the factory set up.
I think that my problem was related to the stop-leak that the former owner had put in the radiator. It had a big 29' fifth wheel RV and the engine got pretty warm a few times before I got that all straightened out. It runs cooler now and I have not had the issue since.
I hope that you got it fixed.

Ford didn't use a gasket on on a 385 (460) engine exhaust manifolds. I had a machine shop machine my manifolds flat. Then I tried using a gasket that didn't work year later took them off and wire wheeled the head surface and the manifolds then put them back bare. Quietest it's been in years. If you are going to use a gasket get one of the dead soft solid copper ones that Mr Gasket sells part number 7165
