Is my wiper arm glued with super duper space glue, or am I just missing something....What's the trick to removing it from the pivot without damage? Figured I'd swallow my pride and ask nicely, usually i'd just break it.
If it is like stock arms, there is a little spring tab that has to be pried away. Sometimes even with that released, they are stuck good on the pivot, I had to use a battery terminal puller to get one of mine off.
Thanks, I found that little tab, seems that you pull it down or push it in?
somethin like that it's still locked up tight. Battery terminal puller? What's it look like, a little spreader or what? Usually i just use a screwdriver, probably not the safest...
Little things like this drive me crazy, I'll be up all night thinkin about it.
Got it!! Thanks for your help. It's always the stupid little things that will make you look like an idiot.
You might also want to put a little "sharpie" mark on the windshield where the ends of the blades are sitting so you can get them back on where they were (and even). You want to be VERY careful about getting them too low and running the arms onto the cowl. That tends to mess up lots of things in that apparatus.
A sledge hammer and a 4 foot crow bar should do the trick. Just kidding, I have many those arms get stuck and are very hard to get off, do not be surprised if you have to get the die grinder out and split it open to get it off. I hope you don't have too but I have ran into a couple of those.
Thanks a bunch for your help, I got it off. I pulled the tab out and then used a small pair of needle nose opened just enough to use as a little pry tool. That sucker was on there tight, after 60 years i shouldn't be surprised. it polished up nice and is going on my 49.
Thanks again
