I doubt it needs to be smaller, and I bet it looks just fine.

So I picked up a 53 F350 today, but I never got it home! I sold it to a friend, all I really wanted from it was the flathead V8 and the headlights anyway, plus the 4 large pulleys that were in the cab. Anyway it has a Ford Script stake bed on it, it looks about 12' long but I didn't measure it. I know he will probably want to sell it for extra cash to help him get his project moving. what do you think those might sell for? it has the steel side support's not wood.
Thanks
Josh

I'll try to get a picture and some better details of it later.

btw BobJ I never did see that photoshop'ed rear end! the other thing that might be real popular is the airbrushing, have you gotten into that yet?

It looks like it's got a 9 foot bed. It's a F-350, the 12 foot bed were on the F-4 and up in the '48-52 vintage trucks so I would think that it would follow through on the newer trucks.

It's hard to say how much the beds are worth. I bought a 9 foot bed that was in very solid condition, the wood was rotted metal is in great shape and I got all of the hardware, $200 about 4-5 years ago. Glockem45 paid $400 for a 7½ a few weeks ago. Like anything else, it all depends if you can find some one who is looking for one and how close that person is.

When Northern Classic Truck made reproduction beds they sold them for $3000-4500.

Well mine was actually $100, but there was a $300 North to South excise tax.

Question

Since this is a good Flatbed thread, I was hoping someone might have pictures of the rear of a stock flatbed truck. TXF100 do you have pic of the back of your truck? I need to figure out how to mount the rear tail lights, what they looks like, how to run the wiring, and where to mount the license plate holder, etc. It would help out greatly. thanks.

This is great stuff! I am enjoying all of this....My Flatbed is a much later model 9' and has a wood floor. I took it off of a 72 F-250, but it had several additions, two wings at the front and a full cab protector with window cutout, trailer hitch in the rear and tail lights built in to the rear frame apron. It will not look stock, but I am not ever going to use stakes anyway. I do plan to run exhaust stacks........

The script beds were used from the late 30's, I think, to the 60s. I have two now and both are the same. Mine are both the short 1/2 ton versions that are shorter then most. I do not have tail lights now and would also like to know how to run them. I have been researching this, but have not see what "stock" looks like.

Well I bet if Julie jumps on here, she will certainly have a good rare picture of the rear of a stock flatbed ford. My fingers are crossed.
