Question Good brake rotors?

I'm getting tired of having a mystery vibration coming from the front end. I've already replaced a hub and rotated my tires around, but its still there. So, it must be my brake rotors. I know one is a little warped, so that's what leads me to believe its the brakes.

Now, what are some good quality rotors? I don't want Asian junk. Should I go slotted or cross drilled?

I'm putting on autospecialty cross drilled rotors...i've had them on two other trucks and two cars...and they were by far the best rotors i've ever had....I've NEVER had to replace or even turn them...and twice i've gone 60,000 miles or more on the cross drilled rotors without any problems......my ONLY concern is they were a bit louder on the two cars that i had them on....and i've not had them on a newer truck yet.....so i don't know about noise level on our years trucks........cross drilled rotors will run a few hundred degrees cooler than a stock rotor under heavy use....and thus won't warp nearly as easy...

Now you'll probably find people saying they'll crack, however i've yet to find anyone who's had a cross drilled (NON CHINESE) rotor crack, they're always some rotor they've drilled themselves....

As for slotted rotors...they won't run any cooler, but do carry away the gasses produced by braking, however i doubt you'll see much of a performance boost on slotted rotors....where you will (less brake fade) from drilled....

I've had a set of slotted/cross drilled rotors before that cracked. They were Roto-Techs. Roto-Tech - Cross drilled & slotted brake rotors Won't buy those again.

I use Brembo OEM replacement units from Diversified Cryogenics. The cryo treatment cost about $15 per rotor but makes them just about as hard as stainless steel and is used extensively in restricted class racing. Cross drilled & slotted rotors do prevent the buildup of gas during extreme usgae but street vehicles never see this event occur- so these types of rotors are essentially "cheese graters" for street vehicles IMHO and test data indicates when comparing apples to apples, a very slight amount of reduced braking is typically present in street type conditions.

They also provide overnight shipping and the service/price is excellent!!!!!

!!!!!

As i said before...slotted ones won't do much for you, but cross drilled do show much cooler rotor temps under heavy use....perfect for our VERY HEAVY trucks....talk to almost anyone who has a quality cross drilled rotor and i think they'll agree they don't rewarp as alot of replacements do, they have less brake fade...and see NO decrease in braking...

I looked at the pics you have in there....that crack has nothing to do with the cross drilling...and everything to do with a defective rotor.....supposed cracking on cross drilled rotors are between holes....not the rotor seperating....

Thats the brand i'd recomend...i've bought alot from them before, summit racing is where i got them the last time, but i just priced out directly from the company a few months back for my current truck and they were cheaper.....
