there are a ton of these performance chips on ebay. they are obviously completely exaggerated, but do they do anything? has any body had any experience with them? heres and example:
all those weirrd knock off ebay chips are trash the best explanation i have heard about them is they are a 50 cent resistor that makes the computer think the engine is running colder but in any case they really dont do anything
or that they just dump more fuel.. by giving the computer fake trottle positioning readings
like you have the trottle at 50% they tell the computer its at 65% so more fuel will be dumped
yes they are a resistor that you plug into your mass air? makes the computer think it's getting colder air so it bumps up the timing and richens the air/fuel mixture might give you an extra 10hp at the most but i don't think our trucks computers can even do that, so big scam
He lists the same damn chip for EVERY make and model to attract revenue.
He is getting FILTHY RICH off this scam. The positive feedbacks are pouring in, all from today.
I don't know how much it costs to make them, but at $26/ship, must be a nice profit...even in this economy, people are buying this crap.
Here's how he handles dissatisfied customers...
Product did not work

didn't make any difference

Again, installed incorrectly. Email us for help. 24/7 support, 100% money back!
This programmer did little to impress me so I took it out

Sounds like an incorrect install. Pls email us 4 help or 100% Money Back.
He uses the same canned answers: Incorrect install. Feedback good. Buyer bad. Return 100% money which I'm sure isn't a loss for him pulling that much in for the crap that belongs in a waste facility.

yes you are true...
they are resistors. depending on your other mods the hp gain varies. the resistor "lock up" the IAT (or intake air temp) to a colder value and the ECU add some fuel etc. I could say some 3-5hp maybe 10...
You can do it yourself instead of pay $25. If somebody already bought one of them, he/her can measure the resistance on the terminals and post it here. Then go to Radio Shack and buy a resistor of that value and connect it to the two terminals of the IAT sensor...
Or you can use a scanner and a potentiometer to set the IAT to some 50F degrees...
