5R110W ring clip problem Question
I have read about the problem with a ring clip in the 5R110W comming loose and busting something in the case. My question is did ford address the problem in a certin year? Does my 05' have the problem? And does every 5R110W eventually sircumb to this problem?

I think you mean the reverse clutch snap ring. Ford made a change in 2005, and it bit them. They had an Owner Satisfaction program for all trucks that had the snowplow package. This is not a recall, but it does look like a recall. The difference is that they put an end time on it, where a recall never ends. Also, if the truck doesn't have the snowplow package they were only fixing them if they broke during the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.
Not every trans will succumb to this problem. They only did snow plow trucks because it appears that repeated reverse engagements caused the snap ring to come out.

Thanks for the reply. Kinda throws a monkey wrench into my plan of throwing a plow on it for next winter...... Although if we get enough snow......I could make enough coin to put 4 or 5 trannys in it.
