I would wait while it is done. Does the actual reflash take just a few minutes?
Actually performing a reflash should only take a few minutes, probably less than 5 minutes. However, going to the service department can be a lot like going to the doctor........the wait is usually the longest part of the entire visit.
I think the mileage is up on my Job #1 a couple of MPG's since the reflash. While I was happy before, the truck seems smoother now. Looking forward to my first tow after the new flash in a couple of weeks. So far, I think it is well worth having done.
Got the latest flash done last Friday w/oil change. Truck seems to shift smoother, don't know about MPG's if any improvement. So far so good, time will tell I guess.
I have a 08 f250 6.4. The regen never came on for the first month. But when it did come on it would not go off. I let it idle in yard one time for an hour and it still would not
come out of regen. I'd take it to the dealership and was told nothing was wrong.
at 25,000 miles I had the Edge with attitude installed. After that the regen would come on for 8 to 10 min then go off. worked great until dealership flashed new update.
Now regen will not work at all and the check engine light keeps coming on. took in for them to look at. How I'm told ford will not cover repairs because of programer. Anyone else have this problem?
Did you remove the program prior to taking it in? Or were they just able to detect it?
Do you know what code is popping up with the CEL?
Unfortunately, the manual clearly states that programmers void the warranty. If the dealer flagged your VIN you are toast. If they didnt flag your VIN then you can try to contact other dealers that are more mod friendly and possibly willing to repair it. If the VIN is flagged though no dealer can get paid for the warranty work so no one will even try it.

I would request an oasis to see if you vin has been flagged as Caprang indicated. Then remove the programmer and see if another dealer will help you out.
Gonna do close to a 1500 to 2000 mile pull here soon. I currently have about 1600 miles on the truck. Kind of excited about it as I hope it kind of "stretches" the legs on this thing. Hatin' that 13 to 14 mpg big time, but I kind of saw that coming in.
Have to look at the DPF deletes and tuners after the truck has some mileage on it.
Well, I had headwinds down to AZ and back to Nv. so the mpg issue was repulsive, though I am impressed with the rigs ability to handle the altitude and the load I was dealing with.
I ranted about the MPG's on Caprangs thread so I won't go off here again.
To keep it positive and hopefully informative, I think that using Shell fuel, keeping the tire pressure maxed on the TT and truck and driving the boost gauge and RPM's is the only "stock" defense against all that repulsive EPA crap on these things
All in all, the truck performed as advertised. Before the trip I was regen'ing about every fill-up (say 200 to 250 miles/regen). During the trip and pulling my 8K # TT, I regened twice the whole trip that I saw (1800 miles). It seemed to "diesel" a little a couple of times but I never saw the indication come up on the info screen inre a regen in progress, so I am not sure what that was about. It went away after a couple of miles.
I'm wondering if pulling that load against the headwinds the whole time might have kept the DPF from sooting up because of the higher operating temps and pressures?
Interesting trucks these new diesels. Gonna take it to the dealership in a couple of weeks and see about in reflashes that need be done
Idling will not take care of REGEN cycle. you must be at speeds greater than 30 mph I think(check your manual).
Is the Edge a tuner?? That may be the problem.
It should come out of REGEN immediately at idle with the transmission out of gear. Unless I read DGs post wrong he was expecting it to do so, rather than complete a REGEN cycle.

Reason: typo
I have had mine done awhile now, I have not noticed any gain (or loss) in MPG. The dealer stated that the reflash had nothing to do with mileage improvement (unfortunately).
I talked to my relative with the '08 6.4 again yesterday. Right after the reflash he was reporting 2mpg improvement. It has been 2 weeks since the reflash now, and he says it is more like a 1 mpg improvement, but still an improvement.
