my buddy in Central KY has a 466 shortblock with flat top pistons that he wants $500 for. He traded for it and then moved up a class and built a 501. That could give you a good start. If you're close enough.

I'll likely save up the money and do the research over some time but i'll likely buy the parts all at once after i decide exactly what i want to do.

I don't think you ever replied to that one, are you going with a carb or fuel injection?

Eeew. I run fuel injection. Its waaaaaay better on the trails.

....if your wiring is solid and protected. :P I've had a few times randomly killing the engine in the middle of a muddy trail and having to climb along the body of my truck so I don't have to jump into couple feet of mud to get under my hood.

I'm a fan of fuel injection. Worked with it long enough to know.

i agree i pulled the fuel injection off of my truck for a carb with jet extentions in the secondaries and i havn't had any problems with it going up extreem hills or anything. when i had fuel injection the motor would just shut off or run like crap in the mud or water because of all the wiring getting wet
