Just got her all back together... Installed new glow plugs and a reman injector and the CCk. (LL delete) Took a couple months. While the truck was in storage. I also santa brought me an AE. So I got to everything back together and pulled her out and hooked AE up. Don't know my way around AE. So i did Buzz test. Everything sounded good. Did the Contribution test. And got two faults. #3 and #8.. Dang it.. Then i thought to pull up these live data screens and seen this. Can anyone explain please? Do i need to pull it apart again?. I ran her for about 20 minutes and the #8 dropped to 5.8/6.1. #3 stayed the same. Air? Heading out now to check fuel pressure.
Might want to get a different cps. I have heard of them causing problems with 3 and 8. Not that familiar with AE I'm sure others will chime in. Maybe Riffraff Performance still has some black ones left.
is the truck running OK ?? do you have the gray CPS in your truck??? injector 3 and 8 are the 2 that the gray CPS will fail...why??we dont know..it just does..
That kinda of good news. The check is on its way to Clay for Two Black ones. I am getting two black ones from him and his special deal.
I have a grey one that was put in by FORD last march under the recall #1, Hence me buying two from Clay. I kept forgetting to get a spare last summer. But i got some coming now..
58psi on the fuel pressure.. Same as before cck. Should i just wait for the black ones to arrive and see. Not going to cause any damage to anything driving like that? Runs good. I realize it might leave me walking though.
As mentioned, high readings on #3 & #8 are often related to the "new & improved" CPS. You're number 8 seems a little high though. For good comparison readings, instead of engine RPM, select EOT (engine oil temp) in the 9th slot so you can compare numbers at the same reading.
Depending on what the readings change to with a black CPS, there may be an issue with the reman injector, or maybe the non-LL reads higher. I know someone without a LL in #8, so I'll take a reading on his truck next time I see him for comparison purposes.
Ok i will put up the EOT instead of RPM for comparison. That makes sense.
It ran perfect yesterday. Put about 40 miles on it. Number 8 knock still there after the cck. I think it might be louder now but hard to tell. Truck was off the road for 4 months. Could the knock and the high number be related?
Oil has less than 1000 miles on it. And i also changed the fuel filter.
If you don't notice any variation in the idle, I would be surprised if that data is real. 6.3 should be noticeable. I notice a little if I pay attention at 3%
Nothing with a black one, but here's a snapshot of a gray CPS with a non-LL in #8. #3 would often jump up to around 3.5 and did trip a CCT code. #8 would go up to 4.3, but did not trip the CCT the one time it was run.
Thanks Chris. I am waiting on Clay's Black ones to try. And see.. Is it something i should be concerned about? Mine trips Faults on #3 occasionally and trips #8 every time.
If the black CPS doesn't fix it and it is running ok. Do i change out injectors? What would be the consequences if i leave it?
I'm not as concerned about your #3 as I am your #8. I'm guessing you'll find #3 drops down quite a bit with the black CPS.
If it were me, I'd check it again after the black CPS is installed, order a set of injector O-rings just in case, then if #8 still fails, pull the drivers side valve cover and swap the #6 & #8 injector. If the injector moved to #6 keeps failing the CCT and reads high on rotational velocity, then I'd change it.
Let us know what you find. I was going to swap my black one into his truck with the non LL #8, but the sun was starting to go down and it was getting cold ( down into the mid 60's) so we decided to call it a day.
