Oh well, live and learn and never trust some body selling parts that's not a reputable business..
Also I can't get PMs any more..
Thanks Bill.
I purchased something from the same person and had a very good experience and I'm ready to purchase more stuff. While everyone has their opinions I wouldn't say not to trust the person or that he is not reputable honestly. I think maybe there is some miscommunication. That always leads to a problem. From what I also understand the seller has offered you the right part as well. I think dealing with fellow members is easier than Ebay and honestly it really isn't in anyone's best interest to try and deceive others since everyone would find out. Just my $0.02.
I have a 1973 Ford F-350 with a stripped Steering Coupler (the teeth are stripped, so when the engine is off the steering doesn't work at all, slips 100%). The local junkyards don't have the part, the Ford Dealer doesn't either, and it looked like it was $52 on ebay - more than I want to spend.
Here's a question - my neighbor is a welder. Can I just have him weld the crap out of it so it grips? Would be there any major reason to not do that? I'm only planning on using this truck as an occasional in-town hauler. Would that work? Thanks!
Absolutely NOT!!!!!!!!! If you said you were going to keep it off road and under 20mph, maybe, but you're risking your life and everyone around that truck if you take it on the street.
Welding two alloyed and dissimilar metals together without following the right procedure to the letter WILL! result in catastrophic failure. It is impossible to follow the procedure with the components assembled.

I might drill a hole though the shaft & use a roll pin.. or cut a slot in the coupler & use an appropriate size clamp ...52.00 is not bad for the part ...
