haven't had mine to go away yet, but have only put a couple hundred miles on it
I wish this could be something simple, but I am not seeing me being that lucky

anyone have reccomendations on the lowest cost place for a replacement torque converter?

also, I posted in the SD forum about my front hub delima-apparently for my truck, with a build date prior to 3/99 (mine is 2/99) the hubs are $500 EACH!-Just need to know if I could use an ABS hub on my truck which doesn't have ABS-as these are a couple hundred cheaper?

If not, what is different between mine and the later non-ABS hubs? Use a different rotor that I could switch to? (I know Jeep did this in the 90's and if you used the later style rotor with the later hub you were fine)

I tried changing gears at a stoplight yesterday, like you said, it would stop for a second and then come right back. Don't really want to pull the trans but if I have to I will.

Not sure about the hub issue, Someone usually will chime in with an answer.

after a lot of research, I am finding what someone mentioned earlier to be true
the 99's seemed to have this issue and it is related to the design of the TC. I believe it is an issue that shows up after years of use, but many have indicated years of service after the noise has arisen.
Me personally, I am not going to chance it. I have found a TC from monstertransmissions.com for $299, so I will be swapping mine out in the near future-besides possible damage to the tranny, the noise is annoying as all-get-out!

Also, I was told that the only difference in the hubs is the thickness-older 10mm, newer 13mm, so you must use the new rotor if switching to the newer hub. I will be confirming this in the near future, by taking mine in and doing a direct one-to-one comparison with the newer style hub and rotor.

If this is true, I can replace my rotor, hub, and brake pads for $376 (local part's store prices) vs. $491 for just the hub. Could do both sides for $706, but that $330 could be used more productively at this time, as the p-side hub seems good (wheel is straight and no grinding noise, haven't shaken it yet)
