Congrats on your new ride!
yeah, I thought the same thing before I bought it, though I have seen some other SD's that have very similar decals?
Could be having a reaction, but I think it is more a reaction to lack of proper maintenance than a reaction to itchy stickers

Affirmative...its a late 99

Those 4x4 stickers are a crackup. I've never seen that before.
Yes, I am going to have to try and get a sound clip for you guys/gals
about the only way right now is to use my phone, which as you can imagine, doesn't have the "best" sound quality.

I'd give it a try anyway. We have some real keen ears around here!

By the way welcome to FTE and good job on the truck. For $7k its hard to go wrong here. I am sure with a little TLC she'll be a great work truck for ya.

If those are Cheby stickers odds are it has been repainted. Maybe been in an accident?

repaint is possible, but there are no indications other than Chevy like decals. Car Fax is clean as a wistle and it was a one owner (John Deere corporate)
judging by the bumps and bruises they didn't fix, I doubt it was repainted LOL

I still think it's the TC. If you're pretty handy with wires, here's the easiest way to either find out if it's the TC or rule it out.
http://67.19.132.3/dieselinnovations...s/tclockup.pdf

The switch is nice to have for other uses. Towing farm equipment I use it often because I'm traveling low speeds with a heavy load and the TC sometimes doesn't lock up, so I can hit the switch to helps to keep tranny temps down.

If it's fuel related, I would think you'd feel it, as if it doesn't have good power, or even the engine running rough.

Where are you located, I see you bought the truck in IL?? Maybe there is someone close by on here that could stop by and take a listen.

It could be the TC
if so, man that thing is loud
reason I believe this could be it-while driving home this evening, sitting at a stop light, I switched from D to 2 to 1 and each time I did, for a very brief second, the sound would let-up
going to spend some time under her tomorrow and see what I find, along with changing the oil, filter, fuel filter, and air filter

I am just north of Springfield, IL but work in Springfield, fyi

Thanks guys-I am hoping it is something simple I can fix because the noise is quite annoying!

Welcome to FTE! Looks like you found a good price, borderline theft

BTW: I used to fish Bass tournaments on Lake Springfield, pretty good fishing there.

Marbles in a can sound

Welcome,
My money is on the torque converter making the marbles in a can sound, that's exactly what mine did at idle for about a month before it failed, if you replace it before it fails you can save yourself a premature trans rebuild.

so you think it is getting ready to fail?
I do believe the TC could be the source of the noise. The noise is definitely not in the top side of the engine

so, anyone know exactly where the dome light switch is at on the door? Is it in the latch on the front doors?

Also, anyone have problems with the fuel filter drain valve not shutting off, and leaking?-looks like new o-rings are in my future

Dome light switch is in the latch assy. If your dome light is staying on WD40 will fix it.

My dome light started doing that again yesterday. This time it was the rear passenger door (last time the drivers door). WD40 did the trick in seconds.

got the dome light fixed
thanks guys
also got my leaky fuel relief valve fixed (for those in a pinch like me, you can wrap the original o-rings with teflon tape and reinstall them for a leak free valve-got new ones coming but needed to get it driveable again)

Now, biggest issue left is the noise, which I am starting to believe is the tc, and I am doubting this thing would be this loud if nothing were wrong. Where is a good place to get a stock replacement? About how much $ am I looking at?

Mine has been making the same sounds since i bought it, Oct 08. Been trying to figure out where it is coming from as well. I'm pretty sure it is from the back of the motor some where. Was thinking that it was the up-pipes but not thinking that now. Also mine will go away sometimes when it is warm.
