Has anyone used or seen used the holly fuel injection kit that bolts up to the oem manifold - I found it in the summit catalog and just wondering if it is worth the grand that they want for it.
I got it, its alright it runs really smooth but I have had some problems tuning it in, I'm using LM1 with a rpm extender to get my air fuel ratios, when you set the first **** (there are 5 all together main, idle, high rpm, accel, and choke) which is the main, I run out of **** to adjust the second you can hook it up in two modes what they call big block (360 and larger) mode and small block (359 and smaller) mode. I'm in small block mode with a not very built 351m I am going to change to big block mode I see if it solves any of my problems. Tuning is the only thing with a kit like this you really need data to look at to see what is going on not just listening to the motor. Is it worth the grand I havn't decided yet.
I never looked in to see how hard the chevy computer is to adapt, the 2 barrel unit is only good for 300hp, dual throttle bodys could be hard to get to run together if you could run 2 with the 1 stock or holley computer by just spliting your wires to all the sensors and conponents that would be nice to do this with the holley stuff would run into alot of money, more than doing a ford feul inj. off a later 460 truck, junk yard chevy stuff would be the way to go if they were easy to modify the computers.
Yes can do the twins, all the GM throttle body's are mostly the same, just bigger injectors for bigger cubic inches and some of the vets had twins, but got to thinking after I posted would not be worth the expense to get a two fours intake for the 460. Well may try just the one for fun. Heck the hardest part would be welding in the bun for a O2 sensor, but never checked out the size of the spedo cable end. May have to come up with some kind of adaptor for the vss. The 7747 Gm computer is very adaptive.
As far as I know no 4 bls. I think all Gm throttle body's are 2 bls . All the 454s I have seen in the yards have had the same one I have off of a 4.3 V6 just larger injectors. I have a stand alone system for my 4.2 Jeep, I made my own adaptor ( could not see paying Howell 80.00 for a hunk of aluminum ) and I have about 120... in the whole thing. Just think it would be a fun think to try building one for my 460, If I can do it on the cheep.
