As far as the top speed is concerned, the Dodge top speed was measured as 154.587 Mph. The Lightning was 147.54 Mph. Can anyone justify more that $10,000 for a truck that can only go 7.187 Mph faster. Along with the very low payload and no towing capability, I would save up my money and buy a Viper or Vette. What good is a fast truck if it can't be used as a truck?
1. The F-150 has been since 1997, and looks like its going to still be uglier than the dodge.
2. I'd bet the SRT-10 gets better mileage than the Lightning, the 6 speed and 4.10 gears should see to that...
3. Have you ever tried to get parts for the 1st Gen Lightnings? Impossible.
4. Tuck your tail between your legs and accept your whipping from dodge until Ford gets its act together.
SRT-10 Lightning
On the brigher side, we can now buy a 32V 5.4 from ford for $4-5k.

LOL, have you seen the official mileage from Dodge?! 10city/15 highway?! thats HENOUS. The lightning gets 13/17, and that's damn good mileage from a blower and a 4 s-peed w/ 3.73's. those 4.10s? those just make the mileage worse man.
and another thing, Ford needs to get it's act together?! it's taken Dodge and chevy over 5 years to finally get in to the speed truck market, Ford just let off for a while to give them a chance to catch up, all dodge did was take the parts from the lacking in sales vipers and drop them into a Ram. That's cheap modding if you ask me. Ford designs specific motors for specific cars, not a few motors for all cars, That is all Dodge is doing.
Ok..time to clarify..the EPA standards for the SRT-10 are 9 city 12 hwy according to motor trend magazine...and remember that the EPA #s are always higher than real life. I don't think a V-10, 8.2L 500hp engine on a heavier truck will get better mileage than a 385hp 5.4L motor, s/c'ed or not. Also, you can't tow anything/haul much with it...and the handling is sub par to the lightnings because it is still a high truck. The suspension is low, but the driver/body/center of gravity is still high. Not to mention it costs 50k+...theres a large thread in the Ford vs. Competition forum....but remember the guidelines (click the link in my signature)...we all have to stay in line
Everyone has their own opinion of which vehicle is "better"...lets agree to disagree if peoples opinions differ.
