I am looking at adding remote start. I do NOT want an alarm, just remote start. I searched here and found some answers but I thought I would ask if there is anything new. It going on a 2006 F350 lariat 6.0 Diesel automatic. Lots of places want $600 installed which seems real high to me because most of the kits with add-ons are about $100. On shop that REALLY seemed to be familiar with the Ford Diesels quoted me $320 installed for a Viper 4501v. That includes a tack generator module that they recommend for all 6.0. That doesn't seem to bad to me, but I am really a do it yourself kind of guy. Viper WILL NOT give any install instructions to non approved shops, that rubs me the wrong way, bigtime!
I started looking at Comustar. They do give instructions with there kits so they can be installed do it yourselfer.
So the questions
Does anyone have any experience with these two brands?
Does anyone know where I can get the wire diagrams for a 2006 superduty? Need ignition/start circuits, and power lock Circuits.
Both of the kits are diesel compliant, and have turbo cool down timers. Viper does have the option for using a timer or a input (wait to start light) for glow plug start delay, while the Compustar is timer only. The Compustar also is set up so I can make my factory remote start the truck. I plan on getting the tack generator module with the compustar if I install myself, its about $10 and really easy to install. Looks like I could save about $220 doing it myself.
