making keyfobs work while truck is running

Like the tittle says how can i make the remotes work when the truck is running? its a late 99

I don't think you can. At least I haven't figured it out yet. I would like to use my spare to get in and out on the cold weather days and leave it running for quick stops at the store.

If you have the keypad on the door, all Lariats do IIRC, problem is solved. If you don't, I've never heard of a way to make the fob work.

The keypad on the door is just another remote. Won't work with the motor running on a 99. I was thinking maybe there is a live wire or something that goes to the module that is only hot when the motor is running. But if it were that simple we'd all have cut that wire by now lol.

Both the fob and the door pad work on my 05 an 08 superduties while running. The horn will not confirm it is lock but is does work as i us it all the time. The drivers side inside lock will not work while running or even if key is left in but u can lock from outside key pad by pushing the 2 right buttons. The dealer disabled the key in ignition bell on the 05 but it would not work on the 08. I read on here that someone did it to his 08 and i am dying to do it to mine as i never pull a key. So some ford tech wizzard tell us how to disable that annoying chime.

I also have a 99. I keep a spare key in the truck,let mine run for those quick stops and use key to get back in. Yeah I've locked myself out but you only will forget once.
