What about using a PB system under the cab on the frame like the Fat Fender guy's use and get it off the firewall. Then run round stock from the firewall to the radiator core support? That would give the front end some stability. Just a thought!! Nice conception, really nice!

I want to switch the door handles to the push-button kind found on the '69s, and the dynamic 88. I HATE the pull up handles, they always break, have terrible action, and are low on looks.
Here's the Dynamic 88 dash in a show car:
This is a shot of the crusty dash I grabbed, the accents are black, and I have the glove box door and ashtrays in the house. In need of TLC, but vicious none the less.
I agree 1000% on the door handles, the dent side pullups suck, particularly on a tall truck. It's a really awkward motion. Keep us informed on what it takes to change to the 69's push buttons.
And the Olds dash is one of the wildest dashes I've ever seen. Very cool.
As far as the push buttons go, you could use the handles off of a F600 or similar series. I don't know what mod's would be required, but worst case, you could swap doors. I have thought about this myself.

I looked at this before and I think you have to grab the doors off an F-600 or so. Either that or fill the hole in the door that our pull handles sit in.
Cool sketch by the way - it looks like my vision for my 38 pickup!
I just grabbed some push button handles off a the same '66 olds that the dash came from, they're the same dimensions as the ones from the '69 trucks, but with oval push buttons. Now I gotta grab the strikers and mechanisms. I'll fill the holes, and cut new ones. Don't get too excited though, this truck is gonna take quite a while before it's done. A very long project. I'm just grabbing stuff before it gets too hot outside. I'm pretty sure snakes are gonna be out there during the summer. I haven't even brought the truck home yet.
I tell you what, I wish the '66 olds still had it's engine, those things were insane, something like 325 HP stock! There is a '69 F100 360 out there too, with 36,000 original miles, and a 3 speed mtx, a bit hard to get to, but it's under a shelter. I'm VERY tempted to check it out for a swap, but I think the gas hand would move faster than the speedo. Anyone know the specs, info on a 360. According to the VIN, my truck originally came with a 360, but it probably didn't have the same power, it probably had a bunch of smog mess bogging it down.
Not on the '66 olds. There's a paddle on the latch that the button pushes against. I imagine the '69s are like that, but I haven't dissected one yet.
On all pull up handles I've encountered, the handle is connected to a flexible rod, which pulls the latch open, which is why thieves and cops can use a "slim jim" to open a locked door.
Yeah, projectbad78, I'm trying to scare up a donor truck locally, that's why I haven't confirmed wanting any parts from your new cab. I know that the parts I need will be a bit heavy and be a little expensive to ship (as compared to buying local).
As far as mirrors, I think I'm going to keep scouting, but I've got chrome on the brain.
