Cool idea, what are your ideas with all the "stuff" on the inner fenderwells and how are going clean up the cab firewall, "stainless steel overlay"?

Remember the front grill shell mounts mainly to the fenders, with a bit of "ofabriciation" you will have a wild one, best of luck.

dr. dirt- i havent done anything since october b/c my daily driver broke down, but im about to get started back up on it
77&79- im not sure what i would do.....wonder what the old school guys do. prob mount it on the firewall.......the only thing about this project that i would be worried about would be chopping the top

I like that rat rod sketch. I have similar ideas. I have a very 'classic' look in mind. Sort of a like a muscle car, but with a truck. In my opinion this '73 looks more classic (and elegant) than the '69s. I have decided I want a 302 or 351 efi with an OD transmission mated to the 9 inch rear. I'm also going with road tires (haven't figured out the exact size yet) My truck is a nasty faded black color (which I dig) that I would like to reproduce when I repaint, and I'm going to keep the trim in the dent, not sure about the trim at the bottom. I've got some trim, window handles, "custom cab" badges and dash parts from one of the '69s that I want to add in, and a nice thick rear bumper from a '69. I'm not a fan of the square guages, so I yanked the dash from a '65 Olds dynamic 88. I want the dash somewhere between the '69 f100, and the '65 olds dynamic 88. Not sure about the seats, but I do have a nice set of tan leather bucket seats from a '97 Mazda 626 that I'm not currently using.
I want to switch the door handles to the push-button kind found on the '69s, and the dynamic 88. I HATE the pull up handles, they always break, have terrible action, and are low on looks. As for mirrors, I have a couple of chrome ones from an old '80s honda motorcycle that would look sweet. I have some from an '80s ford escort that I'm thinking about using too, not sure if they will work though. The antenna is in danger of being shaved. There's nothing good on the radio anyway.

Here's pics of the truck sans vines, and a couple of the dash I got.

Truck:

Here's the Dynamic 88 dash in a show car:

This is a shot of the crusty dash I grabbed, the accents are black, and I have the glove box door and ashtrays in the house. In need of TLC, but vicious none the less.

Sweeeet! I'm gonna take a closer look at your picture, throw a nice shot of the mirror up if you don't mind. I gotta wait 'til it dries up a bit around here to get my truck out of it's hole. I think I'm gonna cut out the rust and put wood in the bed, with a nautical net for a tailgate, leave the sides, not sure yet though. I did grab some tail light chrome covers and the rear reflectors from the '69 today. I think I might try molding in the entire '69 light assembly. My truck has no rear lights at all. I was thinking about selling the '69 rear and side reflectors They don't seem to go for much though, so I think I'll keep 'em, maybe I can use 'em.

Yours' look great. The ones I have are more bullet shaped, and project out more than up, and they are manual. I just remembered that I have a random round chrome driver's side mirror that would look good, but I don't know what it came from to find the passenger one. Maybe a Chevy Nova, I'm gonna try to figure it out.
