Delay from stop to start

Delay from stop to start
While im sitting at a stop i really notice a pretty big gap. Ill hit the gas then ill feel a thump then ill go. I can notice it while at higher speeds when i let off the gas and hit it again but its not even near as long. also sometimes when the truck goes to shift a bad vibration comes from under my feet and i can also hear it. Its loud then decreases once it shifts. Any suggestions? Thanks Jaret

Sounds more like a transmission problem, sorry to say. The slip yoke would cause the bump from a stop, but that's about all. Won't cause a delay in acceleration, and won't do anything bad while on the highway. U-joints would cause a vibration, but not the other things.

I agree. Sounds like transmission slipping. Check the fluid level 1st - if it is low, fill her up. You could even try replacing tranny filters and fluid as believe it or not I have seen transmissions quit slipping just from doing that if it isn't too far gone.

I just took delivery of a 99 F250 2wd that is doing the same thing. I only notice it from a dead stop. (The previous owner upgraded the torque converter - so I was wondering if it was related. I'll go check the fluid levels now.) Also headed to check out the slip-yoke lube thread. Thanks.
