while driving down the road I'll hit just at 70mph and the front end along with the steering wheel starts to shake. at about 75/76mph she stops. also when I mash the gas peddel she doesnt get up and go. It's like it's bogged down or something. would this be the TCC? I bought this truck with just under a 160K on her. she drives good, she shifts smooth but will down shift hard once in awhile. Any help is good.
I would have to agree with the alignment being out or it could just as easily be the tires being out of balance. It could also be a bad tire that is separating or out of round. Not sure how that one is supposed to be spelled. I'm curious though what is TCC???
Re: vehicle shake at 70 or so. Check for loose idler arman arm, draglink, tie rod ends, ball joints, bearings.
Get your alignment at a shop that does trucks, as they will more than likely have the heavier duty rack and tools that do our trucks. Car shops use a lighter duty rack that can flex (yeah some do!).
As for the "my get up and go, got up and went"! Do a complete tune-up, starting with the basics. You'd be surprised what a set of plugs, wires, and timing adjustment can do.
I suppose that is the same thing as the torque converter shudder problem that our trucks are notorious for. If that is the case AutoTrans (autotransinc.com) makes a fix for this. I have it in my truck. Basically it is a little circuit board that splices into a solenoid in the trans that increases line pressure. Installation is easy all you have to do is drop the pan and remove one bolt from the valve body. This worked well on my truck. I have had it on since about 100k and my truck has almost 170K. It only cost about 70$. A couple of other things to look at are drive shaft being out of balance or bad U joints. I hope this information is of some use.
I check the whole front end. everthing was tight. For only paying 4 K for the truck which is a F150 5.0 ext. cab with a cap on the back.. and this is the only thing wrong.. trust me Im not complaining to hard about it. thanks for the input.
thanks. Can you explain more on that board what it is and what it does and where exactly do I install it. Whats the name of the board, where do ya buy them. Thanks. sorry for so many questions just want to make sure Im getting all the info before I go and buy.

Too bad that the transmission is the seemingly most expensive item on the truck though. I just got my truck for 3k Saturday, and it has the shudder problem. So I think 'hey, no big deal'..
Of course when looking at the parts catalogs, most parts on this truck are reasonably priced, UNTIL you look at tranny parts.
And I STILL have not found a general duty, high quality aftermarket torque converter for the E4OD
I'm wanting to pay ~200 dollars for a new converter, but can't find any. They are all 800-1200 dollars, and made of billet..
SHCREW THAT!
I'm going to be investing in a fluid flush/filter change because my fluid is browish and has a burned smell. This might be running on 'borrowed time'
I'm also going to replace the TCS (transmission control solenoid) which is about 40 bucks at the parts store in town. This piece apparently electronically gets a signal from the shifter and then uses mechanical action to select the gears on the transmission (and can mess up) My friend replaced his, and it solved this problem.
Now here is the gray area:
I am thinking about a shift kit package just to make shifts quicker (thus keeping the transmission cooler) But I'm not sure if in this state, this will just further torture my torque converter or not?
Also, as mentioned above, they make 'fix kits' designed to work around shortcomings of various transmissions. I'd like to install one of those dealies as well.
So I too am very curious about how to do this right.
where did you get the parts book from? with the shudder at 70ish the mech on the phone was telling me it was the torq converter clutch cause around 70ish it shows up but at about 75/76ish it stops. soon as I said that he said it was the TCC. call KDS performance at 817-385-0969. Give them the specs on your truck and ask for the TCC and see. mine through them was $135.. if I recall right. hope it helps..
