Does anyone out there know how to go about replacing cab mounts? mine are rusted away. Also what is the best way to strip a truck, mine is red and i am thinking about repainting it but i need to do body work on it first(rust bubbles). What is the best thing to do for minor rust cut it out or grind it down and weld in new sheet metal to reinforce it. Does anyone know where to get replacement panels?

I firmly believe in Chemical stripping if at all possible. I have a local service co.that does this. They bead blast and prime also!

If you can wire brush and clean to shiney metal.
some areas can be fiber glassed for reinforcement, like floor pans!!
and weld

>reinforce it. Does anyone know

Cutting torchs and sandblasting does magic with metal. A little surplus military lead-based Everseal, compliments of a friend in the know, helps too. For body parts, there's a guy in Livermore (check out Uncle Henry's) who specializes in early-mid '70's Ford pick up beds, doors, cabs, etc from the southern rust-free states. His prices are reasonable and he loves these old Fords.
Jereme, where in Maine??
John in Bucksport
iuse to live in wilton with my folks but i moved to waterville to go to college. But i will be doing all my work in wilton. where in livermore is this guy you were talking about?
His adds have been in Unclehenrys for a few years. He doesn't always place adds every week, though. last I checked, he had a '79 complete southern rust free cab with glass, steering, dash, wiring, seat etc, for arounf $500. Same price for a bed. His number is 225-3092. Also, don't forget to check Classic Ford in East Dixfield. They are a Ford only, pre 1980 salvage yard and have just about every old Ford car and truck under the sun, both complete and running, and parts. Unfortunately, they will not sell complete cars, just parts. They've got tons of 50's-60's-70's pickups and cars. Their number is 562-4443. Check out their website at classicford.com
