1978 f100 project
How hard is the carb to rebuild and what am I supposed to do with the gas after I drain the tank? I don't want to just pour it out but I live in the country and there is no chemical disposal areas here.
My father in law is a body man and said we can salvage the bed. There is a lot of body work to do but I think I can get the truck useable in the near future. I'm really excited about this project and can't wait to get going on it.
The 4 speed doesn't feel like a granny gear, were there more than 1 kind of 4 speeds offered on these trucks?

Three different 4 speeds were offered: Warner T-18. New Process 435, and the Ford 4 speed overdrive.
Look on your trucks Warranty Plate on the left door. On that plate look where it says TRANS.
Post the code, someone will decode it and tell you what transmission you have.
btw: 351W's weren't offered till 1981, so if there's one in there now, it was swapped in.
302's and 351W's have 6 valve cover bolts, 351M/400's have 8.
1978 V8 engine choices: 302, 351M, 400, 460.
On the warrenty sticker there is no code under trans but just above on the right hand side of the sticker there are two codes
F0252
T0718
It says GVW 4900
I hope that helps.
What kind of rear end should this thing have? 9 inch rear?
Thanks,
